Foreigners who, due to their financial, professional, or social interests, have links with Spain, will receive a Foreigner Identification Number or NIE.

This is, a personal, unique, exclusive, and sequential number issued by the Directorate-General of the Police, used to identify any foreigners. Although it will not enable you to reside in Spain, it is essential to carrying out any transactions involving the Spanish State and must appear on any of the documents issued or processed, together with the records stamped on your passport or original national identity document in force.

Documentation to be provided to our lawyer:

• Application form duly completed
• A translated power of attorney with a Hague apostille, bearing the name of the lawyer assigned to process the identification number
• Two passport type photographs
• Copy of original passport or national identity card attested by the Consulate
